Melbourne’s burlesque scene is gearing up for a busy stretch, with Tassel Events putting tickets on sale for a string of productions spanning cabaret, comedy and live music across the city’s inner north.
The independent events company has confirmed that four headline shows are now available to book. The Big Burlesque Show, The Victorian Burlesque Gala, Spritz & Strip and Mx Burlesque Victoria all feature on the upcoming calendar, giving audiences a range of formats and styles to choose from.
For those unwilling to wait, the company’s curated recommendations service, Friends of Tassel, has highlighted a selection of performances taking place over the next two weeks, with two shows scheduled for this coming weekend alone.
Meat Market Venue Layout Explained
Tassel Events has also moved to address one of the most common questions it receives from ticketholders: how seating works at Meat Market, the North Melbourne venue that hosts many of its larger productions.
The company describes the space as large, which it identifies as one of the key reasons it continues to use the location for flagship events.
Three seating categories are available across the venue. VIP ticket holders are placed at table seating in the front two rows, positioned for direct sightlines to the stage. Seat selection is available via a map at checkout.
Silver Reserve seating occupies the rows immediately behind VIP, still offering table seating and a clear view of the performance area. General Admission, meanwhile, is unreserved seating at the rear of the venue. There are no tables in the GA section, though the area is close to the bar.
Tables at Meat Market seat between six and eight guests, depending on the floor plan. Groups that do not fill an entire table will share with other attendees.

Whoop Dee Doo Revue Returns To Spiegel Haus
Elsewhere on the Melbourne burlesque calendar, the Whoop Dee Doo Revue is returning to the Spiegel Haus this Saturday night for a double bill backed by a live jazz band.
The evening opens with the Debut Revue, a showcase for emerging performers who have completed a four-week development program. A second performance follows at 9pm, featuring a cast of professional artists.

Burlyrock Brings Rock-Fuelled Burlesque Back In July
Ferri Maya’s Burlyrock is set to return on July 4 at Shotkickers, combining burlesque with a rock and roll format and a stacked lineup of performers.
The bill includes 2Joocee, Adelaide Everheart, Bella Dejac, Ferri Maya, Florence Fable, Flynn V, Strawberry Siren and Whisky Falls.
Fans of the format will also want to watch Burlyrock’s social media channels for details on upcoming School of Rock shows, scheduled for August 8 and 15 at The 86.
