Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Sydney-based fashion-tech startup DAPPA has officially launched its AI-driven personal styling app, aiming to simplify daily fashion choices. Developed by six Gen Z entrepreneurs โ Dev Chopra, Jordan Terzian, Elyssa Chaaya, Kew Mcparlane, Dylan Lay, and Danial Amin-Rahmanlouโthe app offers personalised style recommendations displayed on users’ bodies in real-time.
DAPPA’s launch is backed by personal investments from business executives Michael Easson and Adam Geha. Their support has been instrumental in transforming the startup from a concept to a market-ready product since their involvement began in 2023.
“Michael and Adam’s investment has been impactful as a sign of confidence in the business we’re building. It’s a larger signal that Australia has the ability to produce high-quality consumer Ai products,” said CEO Dev Chopra.
The app allows users to create a virtual inventory of their wardrobe and try on clothes from photos, whether online or in-store. By leveraging advancements in generative Ai, DAPPA positions itself as a personalised stylist that understands each user intimately.
The idea for DAPPA originated in early 2022 when Geha challenged Chopra to develop a viable business concept. Inspired by AI-generated images suggesting unexpected outfit combinations, co-founder Terzian contributed to the initial concept. By December 2022, the team presented their idea to Geha during a strategic meeting in the Hunter Valley.
Recognising the app’s potential, Easson and Geha provided mentorship and financial backing, which has been pivotal in DAPPA’s development journey. Their support has enabled the startup to hire a passionate team to develop their foundational virtual try-on model known as ‘Tailor’.
“DAPPA addresses a significant problem in the fashion industry: the overwhelming choice of what to wear. With the advent of generative Ai and innovations in material science, the future of fashion looks to be one where you’re the main character of your fashion journey,” Chopra said.
Co-founder Mcparlane added, “Ai has already had major impacts on the fashion industry and will continue to do so. We’ve already seen how it’s revolutionised how people discover fashion. Now, as a new wave of Ai approaches, we’re seeing a revolution in the personalisation that Ai can bring to the fashion shopping experience.”
The app aims to enhance self-expression and confidence through personalised styling. Designed to integrate seamlessly into users’ routines, DAPPA considers factors such as weather and personal schedules.
