Portland-based production company Lacy Productions is staging its Booklover’s Burlesque series in Seattle, with a fantasy and Sci-Fi themed edition at The Triple Door Theatre on Friday, May 22.

The show pairs live readings of fantasy and Sci-Fi literature with burlesque, boylesque, aerial and draglesque performances, continuing a format the company has built its reputation on across the Pacific Northwest.

How the show works

Booklover’s Burlesque follows a structured format in which professional readers, actors and local authors read aloud excerpts of poetry, fiction, memoir or non-fiction on stage. Each reading is then followed by a performance inspired by the piece, spanning burlesque, boylesque, aerial and draglesque styles.

The concept positions itself as a hybrid of literary salon and cabaret, combining the written word with live performance art.

The Seattle edition focuses specifically on the fantasy and Sci-Fi genres.

Cast and venue

The show features a cast of 12 performers including Sneaky Boo, Anna Nymph, Lavish the Jewel, Asteria Atombomb, The Infamous Nina Nightshade, Mismonsta, Lady Drew Blood, Ruby Mimosa, Sherwood Ryder, Angelique DeVil and Nick Lacy.

The Triple Door Theatre at 216 Union Street in Seattle is hosting the event, with doors opening at 6:30pm and the show starting at 7:30pm. The event is restricted to attendees aged 21 and over.

Tickets and availability

General admission advance tickets are priced at $35, while VIP seating at $50 has sold out. Tickets do not include food or drinks. Door sales will only be available on a first-come, first-served basis if capacity has not been reached through advance sales.

The company has indicated the show is close to selling out, with only a limited number of seats remaining.
