Theatre Royal Bath Productions and Sustainable Entertainment have confirmed the cast for the UK premiere of Donald, a play about the life of Donald Trump, which will run at the Ustinov Studio this autumn.
Actor, Elliot Cowan, will play the title role of the 45th and 47th President of the United States. He is joined by Actor, Oscar Batterham, and Actor, Jo Herbert, who will portray the many other characters in Donald’s life across the production.
The play is written by Italian Playwright, Stefano Massini, whose previous work includes The Lehman Trilogy. It has been adapted and directed by double Olivier Award Winner and Tony Nominee, Sean Foley.
The Play
Donald traces the arc of Trump’s career before and into the presidency, covering his path through property development, golf courses, hotels, media and reality television.
Massini, who is known for The Lehman Trilogy, wrote the play as a portrayal of the figure behind the public image and his pursuit of success across multiple industries before entering politics.
The Cast
Cowan’s stage credits include Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Donmar Warehouse and the title role in the Shakespeare’s Globe production of Macbeth.
Batterham’s recent stage work includes Roger Davies in TINA: The Tina Turner Musical in the West End, along with credits in The One That Got Away, The Whale, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Jane Austen’s Emma.
Herbert’s television credits include Call The Midwife, Unforgotten, The Crown and Casualty.
The Director
Foley’s previous stage work includes co-adapting and directing Dr Strangelove, directing the Olivier-nominated The Upstart Crow, adapting and directing The Painkiller starring Kenneth Branagh and Rob Brydon, and directing the Olivier Award-winning Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense.
