Dita Von Teese is touring Australia and New Zealand, bringing her latest production, Nocturnelle, to theatres across both countries throughout August 2026.
The tour, presented by Australian Promoter, TEG Dainty, opened in Adelaide on 5 August at Her Majesty’s Theatre before moving on to Melbourne’s Palais Theatre and the Canberra Theatre Centre. It landed at Sydney’s State Theatre this week for three performances spanning 13 to 15 August, with Brisbane’s QPAC Concert Hall, Auckland’s Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Christchurch’s Isaac Theatre Royal and Wellington’s Opera House still to come.
Several performances have already sold out, prompting the addition of extra dates in Sydney, Brisbane and Wellington to keep up with demand. An additional Sydney show on 13 August was added to the original two-night booking, while a second Wellington performance on 29 August was tacked on alongside the existing 28 August date. Both Brisbane shows on 17 and 18 August are sold out, with a third performance on 19 August still carrying available inventory.
What the production involves
Nocturnelle is built around a combination of old-Hollywood aesthetics, stage magic and burlesque performance. The production draws on 19th century illusionism and pairs striptease routines with magic across a running time of approximately two hours and 20 minutes, including an interval. All performances are restricted to audiences aged 18 and over.
Von Teese, who serves as the show’s Creative Director as well as its headline Performer, described her approach to the production in promotional materials.
“Nocturnelle is my most glambitious show yet,” she offered. “It’s where sophisticated striptease meets the spellbinding art of illusion. Learning from master magicians and diving into the secrets of vintage magic, I set out to create something uniquely enchanting – it’s the art of the Teese, plus a little trickery, and a whole lot of glitz.”
The show features a cast of neo-burlesque artists hand-picked by Von Teese, though the full ensemble has not been publicly disclosed. Costumes for Von Teese’s own performances are typically produced with contributions from designers including Jean-Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab, Alexis Mabille and Jenny Packham, with custom footwear by Christian Louboutin. Many of her stage pieces are created alongside Master Corsetier, Mr. Pearl, and Burlesque Costume Prop Designer (and best mate) Catherine D’Lish.
Ticket pricing and availability
Ticket prices for the Australian leg vary by venue and seating tier. At Sydney’s State Theatre, standard tickets range from $100 for mezzanine seating to $200 for stalls, with a handling fee from $11 per transaction. As of Friday, the State Theatre’s 14 August performance is listed as sold out on Ticketmaster, while limited tickets remain for the 15 August show. Verified resale tickets for the sold-out date are listed at $385 each.
At Brisbane’s QPAC Concert Hall, where the show runs from 17 to 19 August, tickets are priced between $100 and $200, with an $8 transaction fee per booking.
A VIP Meet and Greet add-on is available at select venues for $482 and must be purchased alongside a standard ticket. The package includes a post-show photo opportunity with Von Teese taken on the attendee’s own phone with professional lighting provided, a personally dedicated and autographed souvenir print and the option to have books or other memorabilia signed.
Venues with accessible seating requirements are directing patrons to book through their respective call centres or box offices.
A broader touring schedule
The Australian and New Zealand dates represent one leg of a wider global schedule for Nocturnelle. The production completed a European run earlier this year, with performances at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam, the Admiralspalast in Berlin, L’Amphithéâtre 3000 in Lyon, Forum Karlín in Prague, the Metronom Theater in Oberhausen, Finland’s Tampere-Talo, Folketeateret in Oslo, Stadthalle F in Vienna, the Stadsschouwburg in Antwerp, the Folies Bergère in Paris, the Teatro Degli Arcimboldi in Milan and the Teatro Brancaccio in Rome.
The Folies Bergère is a venue Von Teese knows well. She appeared as a guest star in Fashion Designer, Jean-Paul Gaultier’s, Fashion Freak Show there in 2019 and packed the house with her Glamonatrix production during its 2022-2023 run.
The tour comes on top of a busy slate for Von Teese. Her Las Vegas residency is currently based at the Voltaire in The Venetian, a Deco-styled venue where her revue opened in late 2024. That followed an earlier Vegas staging at the Jubilee Theater. A separate production, Diamonds and Dust: A Tale of the Good, the Bad and the Lucky, which Von Teese co-directs, opened at the Emerald Theatre on London’s West End in June 2025.
Celebrity endorsements
Pop Star, Taylor Swift, who cast Von Teese in the music video for the track Bejeweled from her 2022 album Midnights, has spoken about Von Teese publicly on more than one occasion.
“Dita Von Teese is an absolute legend, unbelievable – she’s inspired so many people who’ve performed,” Swift remarked.
In a separate instance, Swift described Von Teese as “one of my favourite performers, who I think has been so influential in pop music.”
Singer, Dua Lipa, has called Von Teese “unquestionably the modern queen of burlesque.”
The Bejeweled video saw both Swift and Von Teese take a turn inside Von Teese’s trademark martini glass prop, with the Burlesque Performer cast as a fairy godmother to Swift’s Cinderella character.
Audience reaction from Melbourne
Early audience feedback from the Australian leg has been warm. One attendee at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre, posting on Instagram after the 8 August show, described the evening as “a beautiful evening of old-world glamour and pure theatrical entertainment, meticulously crafted.”
“Dita possesses a rare aura and an elegance entirely her own – a beauty to behold,” the attendee wrote. “I had long wanted to witness her martini routine, and it was as stunning as I had imagined.”
Another attendee commented that it was a “brilliant show,” while TEG Dainty posted on social media following the Adelaide opening that the tour had “officially kicked off.”
Career and business interests
Beyond the stage, Von Teese has built a portfolio of business ventures spanning fashion, beauty, spirits and publishing. Her eponymous lingerie collection launched in 2010 and has been credited with reviving vintage silhouettes and broadening size inclusivity in the category. She is a Partner and Creative Director at Sweet Gwendoline French Gin, a brand whose visual identity draws on mid-20th century fetishistic illustration.
A new book, Fashioning the Femme Totale: The Ultimate Guide to Glamonatrix Style, co-authored with Journalist-Creative Director, Rose Apodaca, is set for release through Harper Collins. It follows Von Teese’s previous title, Your Beauty Mark: The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour, which appeared on The New York Times bestseller list.
Her television credits include a guest role on CSI in one of the series’ higher-rated episodes, an appearance on the spring 2025 season of Queer Eye and a run on the French edition of Dancing with the Stars. She also lent costumes and dancers from her Vegas production to Director, Gia Coppola’s, 2024 film The Last Showgirl, featuring Pamela Anderson.
Von Teese has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and cancer-related causes, and has served as the MAC Viva Glam Spokesperson from 2006 to 2008. The charity amfAR honoured her with the Award of Courage in 2008 for her work in AIDS fundraising and awareness.
Four full-length touring revues
Nocturnelle sits within a lineage of four previous full-length touring productions. Strip, Strip, Hooray! ran from 2013 to 2016, followed by The Art of the Teese in 2017, Dita Von Teese and the Copper Coupe in 2018 and Glamonatrix in 2019 and again from 2022 to 2023.
Glamonatrix sold out venues across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United States, including five nights at the London Palladium and runs at the Folies Bergère in Paris and the Burgtheatre in Vienna. During that era, Von Teese became the first burlesque act to perform at the Opera Garnier Monte Carlo, with Prince Albert II of Monaco in attendance.
Each production has featured a gender- and body-diverse cast of neo-burlesque performers drawn from around the world.
Remaining dates
The Nocturnelle tour’s remaining Australian and New Zealand performances include a final Sydney show at the State Theatre on 15 August, followed by Brisbane’s QPAC Concert Hall from 17 to 19 August. The New Zealand leg opens at Auckland’s Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre on 23 August, moves to Christchurch’s Isaac Theatre Royal on 26 August and concludes with two Wellington performances at The Opera House on 28 and 29 August.
