Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
The house lights dim, the curtain twitches and out steps a smartphone wearing crystals. Motorola has pulled back the velvet on a new Australian lineup, and while a pair of foldables share the bill, the number drawing every eye is the motorola signature dressed by Swarovski.
The signature and its companion piece, the moto buds 2 plus, are the new additions to Motorola’s Brilliant Collection. Both are finished in PANTONE Violet Indigo and set with Swarovski crystals, and the pairing will be available exclusively through Telstra at RRP $1,799 from 7 July.
Motorola says the collection takes its cue from the natural radiance of constellations, with the crystals arranged across the signature’s back in a 3D-quilted pattern. The company describes the result as technology turned jewellery, the product of its deepening partnerships with Swarovski and Pantone.
“We’re also expanding our commitment to premium craftsmanship with our Brilliant Collection series, introducing editions of the motorola signature and moto buds 2 plus with crystals by Swarovski, reinforcing our belief that technology should do more than just perform; it should be a tool of self-expression,” explains Praveena Raman, Head of Motorola ANZ.
Dressed In Violet Indigo
Beneath the crystal corsetry sits the signature series’ design language: a 6.99mm profile weighing 186g, contoured edges and a frame of aircraft-grade aluminium. Colour duties fall to the Pantone Colour Institute, which curates the shades across the range, while fabric-inspired finishes give the phone a tactile, couture feel.
The moto buds 2 plus complete the costume change, carrying Sound by Bose audio, their own scattering of Swarovski crystals and the matching Violet Indigo colourway. Even the unboxing gets a flourish, with Motorola listing a signature packaging fragrance among the phone’s in-box inclusions, though contents vary by market.
Four Cameras Behind The Curtain
Strip away the sparkle and the signature remains a fully dressed flagship. Its camera system holds a DXOMARK Gold Label and is built around four 50MP cameras.
The main camera pairs a Sony LYTIA 828 sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, 3.5 degree optical image stabilisation and a multispectral 3-in-1 light sensor. It records Dolby Vision video in up to 8K along with 4K slow motion at 120 frames per second.
A 50MP periscope telephoto lens on the Sony LYTIA 600 sensor delivers 3x optical zoom from a 71mm focal length and stretches to 100x Super Zoom Pro with assistance from moto ai. A 50MP ultrawide lens brings a 122 degree field of view and doubles as a macro camera, while a 50MP front camera on the Sony LYTIA 500 sensor handles selfies and 4K video.
Both camera and display are Pantone Validated for colour and skin tones. Software touches include Signature Style, which learns a user’s colour preferences and applies them automatically, alongside Group Shot, Action Shot, Photo Booth and a document scanner powered by Adobe Scan.
A Stage Lit To 6,200 Nits
The 6.8 inch Extreme AMOLED display runs Super HD (1.5K) resolution, 14 per cent more pixels than Full HD, with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz and peak brightness of 6,200 nits. Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and 10-bit colour across the DCI-P3 gamut handle the theatrics, while an always-on display idles at 1Hz to conserve power.
Sound comes from dual stereo speakers tuned with Sound by Bose, backed by Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio certification.
Muscle Beneath The Sequins
The engine room houses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a 3nm chipset with CPU speeds of up to 3.8GHz, paired with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. An ArcticMesh cooling system routes heat through a copper mesh and a liquid metal thermal gel into a vapour chamber.
The phone ships on Android 16, with Motorola promising seven OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates. The moto ai suite includes Catch Me Up for notification summaries, Pay Attention for live transcription, Remember This and Recall for surfacing saved details, plus Image Studio for generative art, all within reach of a dedicated AI Key.
Stamina For The Late Show
A 5,200mAh silicon-carbon battery keeps the performance running. Motorola claims up to 41 hours of battery life, with 90W TurboPower wired charging said to deliver a day of power in about seven minutes. Wireless charging peaks at 50W and the phone supports 10W reverse wireless charging for topping up accessories.
Durability credentials cover IP68 and IP69 ratings, testing against 16 categories and 14 procedures of the MIL-STD-810H standard and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 up front.
The Supporting Cast
Two foldables round out the bill. The motorola razr fold is Motorola’s first book-style foldable, opening from a 6.6 inch external display to an 8.1 inch 2K LTPO screen inside. Its rear camera system, a 50MP Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto with 100x Super Zoom Pro and a 50MP ultrawide with Macro Vision, carries a DXOMARK Gold Label of its own, joined by Dolby Vision recording in up to 8K plus 32MP internal and 20MP external selfie cameras.
A 6,000mAh battery with 80W TurboPower charging delivers over 43 hours of use, according to Motorola, while a stainless steel hinge, Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, Sound by Bose audio and compatibility with the separately sold moto pen ultra fill out the package. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 runs the show, with a choice of Google Gemini, moto ai and Perplexity AI assistants and the same seven-year software promise as the signature.

The motorola razr 70 ultra flips into frame with the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, a triple 50MP camera system and what Motorola describes as the first LOFIC sensor in a flip phone, capturing up to 6x more dynamic range than its predecessor. Its 4.0 inch external display offers full app access, a Flex View position turns the phone into its own tripod and AI camera features include Camcorder Rotate to Zoom, Group Shot and Signature Style.
A 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 68W TurboPower charging runs for over 36 hours on Motorola’s numbers, with a full day of power claimed in about eight minutes. A titanium-reinforced hinge, Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic on the external display and a PANTONE Orient Blue finish with embossed Alcantara texture complete the outfit.
