Etiquette coach and podcast host William Hanson is making his West End debut in the Olivier Award-winning musical comedy Titanique, joining a refreshed cast at the Criterion Theatre.
Hanson, who co-hosts the podcast ‘Help I Sexted My Boss’, is taking on the role of Ruth in the production, which retells the story of Titanic through the music of Céline Dion.
He will play the part until 19 July, with further casting for Ruth from 21 July still to be announced.
Fresh Faces On Board
Joining Hanson in the new intake are Lewis Francis as The Iceberg, Nikki Wheeldon as Molly Brown, AJ Lewis and Joi Lurrie as on-stage background vocalists and Finton Flynn, Josh Lovell and Charlotte Soo as offstage understudies.
They join a returning cast that includes Rose Galbraith as Rose, Astrid Harris as Céline Dion, Freddie King as Jack, Cameron Vear as Cal, Michael Vinsen as Victor Garber/Luigi and on-stage background vocalist Corrine Priest.
King and Vear have both stepped up from previous positions as offstage understudies into their current roles.
A Show Built On Céline Dion’s Catalogue
Titanique takes the story of James Cameron’s 1997 film and reimagines it as a musical comedy built around the songs of Céline Dion. The setlist includes My Heart Will Go On, All by Myself and To Love You More, all performed with a live band.
Co-written by Tye Blue, Marla Mindelle and Constantine Rousouli, the show blends nostalgia for the film with comedy and vocal performances drawn from Dion’s back catalogue.
Smooth Radio has described it as “The West End’s Funniest Musical.”
The production has picked up five-star reviews from The Times, the Daily Mail, the Sunday Express, the Sunday Mirror, Gay Times and London Theatre.
From Off-Broadway To The World Stage
Titanique had its Off-Broadway premiere in June 2022 at the Asylum Theater in New York, with co-writers Mindelle and Rousouli starring as Céline Dion and Jack Dawson respectively.
After several sold-out extensions, the production transferred to the Daryl Roth Theatre on 20 November 2022, where it ran until 15 June 2025.
The show has since had runs in Paris, Sydney, Montreal and Toronto.
In March 2026, Titanique made its Broadway debut at the St. James Theatre, receiving four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical.
The London production won the 2025 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
A Growing List Of Awards
During the 2022/23 theatre season alone, Titanique collected seven awards. Those included three Lucille Lortel Awards, the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Musical, the Las Culturistas Culture Award for Best Indoor Performance and two Dorian Awards.
The 2025 Olivier Award and four 2026 Tony Award nominations have added to that tally as the show has expanded across multiple markets.
The Creative Team Behind The Production
Titanique is directed by Tye Blue and choreographed by Ellenore Scott. Music Supervision, Arrangements and Orchestrations are by IRNE Award-winner Nicholas James Connell.
Scenic Design is by Gabriel Hainer Evansohn and Grace Lauchbacher for Iron Bloom Creative Production. Costume Design is by Alejo Vietti, Lighting Design is by Paige Seber and Sound Design is by Lawrence Schober.
Casting is by Pearson Casting CDG and Richard Johnston for cast members joining from 9 June.
The London production is produced by Eva Price and Michael Harrison.
